Grand Lake History
The town of Grand Lake was established in 1881, given the name of the lake that resides near its shores, and incorporated in 1944. It was originally founded as a supply point for the mining settlements of Gaskill, Lulu City, and Teller City. The lake itself is the largest, and deepest, natural body of water in Colorado today.
