Granby was founded in 1904 along the route of the Denver, Northwestern & Pacific Railway, and incorporated just one year later. It was named after Denver attorney Granby Hillyer. Views of the Continental Divide and Rocky Mountain National Park surround the town, which could lay claim to why local residents say Granby is, "The Heart of Something Grand."
