Eastern Oregon History
Eastern Oregon is commonly understood to include the eight easternmost counties in the state (see "Eastern Oregon Facts" above). Its main transportation routes include I-84, U.S. Route 395, U.S. Route 97, U.S. Route 26, U.S. Route 30, and U.S. Route 20. Major industries of Eastern Oregon are timber, agriculture, and tourism. The region receives a significant amount of snow in the winter, and tends to experience a drier, continental climate compared to the moderate rainfalls of Western Oregon.
